Never in my life i thought i will meet some one like him and get engaged to him . I am Lillian and this is my story.
"You're even more beautiful up close, Lillian," he murmured, and I felt my cheeks heat up involuntarily.
Cedric's jaw clenched so tightly I thought he might crack a tooth. "I said-"
"Relax, Blackwood," Adrian interrupted smoothly, his tone infuriatingly calm. "I wouldn't dream of stealing your precious sister away. Not tonight, at least."
My breath caught. Not tonight?
Cedric's fingers twitched, and for a moment, I thought he was about to punch Adrian right there in the middle of the ballroom. But before things could escalate, another voice cut in.
"That's enough, gentlemen," a man in his fifties-one of my brother's business associates-intervened with a forced chuckle. "No need to make a scene at such a fine event."
Adrian smirked again but took a step back. "Of course," he said, tilting his head slightly at me. "I'll see you around, Lillian."
With that, he turned and walked away, disappearing into the crowd.
I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding. My heart was still racing, and I didn't understand why.
Cedric turned to me, his face still stormy. "Stay away from him."
"Why?" I asked, genuinely curious.
He hesitated before muttering, "Because Adrian Castellan doesn't just look at something he wants. He takes it."
