Newt, seemingly normal at first glance. And second. Except first impressions are never quite right. Not when a person's darkness only shows itself once it's too late. Once you're too far in. Once you're attached. Once you've been changed. Especially when you're an impressionable American teen. Even more so when you're in love.
This fanfiction will include various triggering topics, keep that in mind, I'll put trigger warnings at the start of each chapter that requires it.

[EDIT 1] My work is currently undergoing some revisions. I wrote this 5 years ago, and needless to say, some of the dialogue, scenes, wording, and overall feel is quite childish. Not all of it, but some of it. I've decided to revisit my original first story and make it better. The story is definitely much more mature now, and I think everyone will enjoy it better now that the tone has changed to fit the melancholy nature of my story. Thanks in advance. The Promise (1st for the life in danger series)
Sorry if this has any mistakes. This is the first book that I have written. My best friend and I worked on it together, but I did all the typing and came up with ideas. This book is kinda like the maze runner, but we changed around names and kept names that fit characters. The ones we changed were Thomas and well I think that was the only one really. We kept Newt, Minho, Chuck, Alby, and Gally. We changed Thomas into Dylan, because that's his real name and it fits him better. (No offense). Please tell us if we made any mistakes and if you have anything bad to say make sure you say it, but if you didn't like this book we don't want to hear it. From future me: I'm sorry about the weird book. I was a big fan of the Maze Runner at the time and I still am, so sorry for the weirdness.
