Mike Wheeler, 17, is starting his Senior year of high school with the same friend group he has had since elementary school. Only-something is different this year. Everyone is falling apart from each other and Mike is giving it his all to keep everyone together. He has all this to deal with on top of the bullying for his sexual identity. Nothing new since he was outed Freshman year, but something is different this time. Something Mike never would have expected. This year, his best friend, Will Byers, has joined in the bullying in one last feeble attempt to be "popular" in his final year of high school. Will Mike be able to handle all this stress alone? Or will he have to leave his town, or possibly his life in order to deal with this Hellish last year of high school? Or will Will Byers finally realize his hurtful actions, and most importantly-Mike NEEDS him.
