Love in the Rain
Mia hurried down the cobbled streets of Paris, clutching her sketchbook to her chest as raindrops danced around her. She had forgotten her umbrella, but she didn't mind. The city was more beautiful in the rain, glistening under the streetlights, the scent of wet pavement and fresh coffee lingering in the air.
As she turned the corner near the Seine, she crashed into someone-hard. Her sketchbook flew from her hands, landing in a puddle.
"I'm so sorry!" she gasped, looking up.
A pair of deep brown eyes met hers. The man standing before her had dark, tousled hair and a charmingly crooked smile. He bent down and picked up her sketchbook, carefully shaking off the water.
"No harm done," he said, handing it back. Then he noticed the drawings inside-portraits of people, a sketch of the very street they stood on, and a half-finished sketch of a man's face.
"This is incredible," he murmured, flipping through the pages.
Mia blushed. "It's nothing, really."
He looked at her curiously. "You don't see how beautiful your work is?"
She shrugged, feeling suddenly shy. "I just draw what I see."
"Then I hope you'll see me again," he said with a playful grin. "I'm Lucas."
Mia smiled, tucking her wet hair behind her ear. "Mia."
Lucas glanced up at the sky as the rain continued to pour. Without hesitation, he pulled off his scarf and gently draped it around her shoulders. "Would you let me buy you a coffee? Maybe tell me more about these sketches?"
Mia hesitated for only a second before nodding. As they walked toward the nearest café, she felt a warmth spread through her-not just from the scarf, but from the way Lucas looked at her, as if he had been waiting for this moment his whole life.
And maybe, just maybe, she had been too.
