My Uncle had always told me. Whatever you do. Don't leave the blinds open on the Wide Window. He never said why, he trusted us to trust him. Until his own daughter forgot. 

After finding Ella's body in her room, everything seems colder. The skies darker, and the forests gloomier. But all the same, Caitlyn is more than determined to find a way to destroy the window. But naturally, the demon summoning window has self-healing powers. Great.

After her Uncle is hit with a brick, and is hospitalized, Caitlyn is on her own. With a window that can't be destroyed, and demons living outside the cabin.

They turn off their lights about the same time we do. Except in that one room. The lights in the white room stay on late each night. I tried to watch them, once, to see how late they stayed on. I fell asleep. When I woke up, they were already off. My neighbour's house is normal. Sometimes I hear sounds from the house. Almost like muffled screams. Everyone gets night terrors, it's common knowledge that, at night, everything can sound scary. My neighbour's house is normal. Except when it isn't.
