Life Itself

the year is 5025, the world is no longer run by humans, their animal counterparts have evolved to the point of being anthropomorphic, walking on two legs as the humans have evolved in the past. these animals began slowly teaching themselves the actions, mannerisms and speech of the human throughout the years. soon learning they could overpower the humans who kept them caged and hunted in the past.
Their evolution was extremely rapid due to scientific studies taken where different animals were injected with a serum to give them a growth spurt of sorts. these experiments went terribly wrong, the animals had evolved too much. they took over the labs, injecting this serum into at least two of each animal they could find. Their own messed up noah's ark.
There are six humans left on earth, and the "the boss" (a flock of 5 penguins) has collected them in this facility, a warehouse. now the facility is a large metal warehouse, perfectly manufactured and built to hold six fairly sized rooms, a chapel where different religious books are held, a river, and a large palm like tree. The animals prescribe a medication to the humans weekly that stunt their hormones which cause them to be infertile so as to not create more.
the facility is everything these humans have ever known, they don't feel the need to explore the outside world as they don't know any different than how they are living, at least for now.
Jon, a twenty-nine year old man was the last to be captured, he is the only one who knows what the world is like, and he much prefers this tiny life he has now, there is just no way of surviving on the outside. these anthropomorphic animals want to understand humans better. discovering how they cling to religion, relationships, and beliefs.
