"I'm inviting you to our annual Court, I hope you do the same when you have such things as well" "Your people won't let us join your Courts and my people don't get to have Courts..." ____________________ Steph, a 20 something year old girl who leads her life as a con artist conning arrogant rich people with her inventions. With her trusty companion, Carrots, her dog, she grew up in the harsh conditions of the cold streets as an orphan taken in by a homeless group of teens. She grows up to hate the societal statuses and the people of high class who only ever seem to care for themselves. She becomes a con artist at a young age and extorts money out of easy and dumb riches. But due to her kind heart, she likes to donate and help out people with her money, which causes her to live in an abandoned greenhouse which also doubles as her workshop. On a silent, seemingly calm night she meets a man with similar taste and interests as herself who seems to be very interested in her endeavors... is he true or just another obstacle in her path.. Will Steph be able to escape her situation or fall to it. Who were her parents? Who is she? Will He help her collect the missing pieces or break it up further? _____________________ 《This story is based around the time of the 1920s but it is not historically accurate as it is not based on a real place in real life.》

NOTICE: THIS STORY IS AN OLD DRAFT. It is currently in the process of being rewritten. For your sake (and mine) please go check out "ILLUSIONS AND LIES: REWRITE" on my profile. While I'm not stopping you from reading this- especially if you're impatient and want to know how the story goes- please do keep in mind that aspects of this story are unpolished in this book. "we thought we were special. turns out, we were wrong." A group of teenagers who live in a place known only as "The Compound" are led to believe that they are the last people on the planet, aside from their ever-present caretakers. The Caretakers study them and their abilities, never once letting them know of the thriving outside world. In the outside world, everybody has abilities, known as "Gifts." The oppressive government prevents people from using these Gifts properly. A faction of rebels is on the rise, determined to retrieve the children they lost to this cruel government and create a fairer world for all. "and we don't like being wrong..." Modern futuristic AU. This story will contain mature themes and triggering topics, such as somewhat detailed descriptions of blood and violence, suicide, depression, homophobia, child abuse, and death. I do not own the characters, but I do own the plot. Please do not steal the plot or elements of this story.
