Hidden away in an ancient tower, Y/N has lived her entire life in solitude, her only companion a sassy little gecko named Lómin. Bound by duty and the whispered warnings of her guardian, she has never stepped beyond the walls that confine her. Her gift, the power to heal wounds and reverse decay, flows through the long silver strands of her hair, but it comes at a cost. To use it, she must recite an ancient Elven prayer, a song of starlight that could make her either a savior or a target.
The outside world is dangerous. She has been told this all her life. Kings would seek to control her. Thieves would try to take what is not theirs. And once her secret is known, she will never be free.
But when fate sends an unexpected visitor to her tower, Y/N must make a choice: remain a prisoner of safety or risk everything for a chance at freedom...perhaps, even love.

The relationship between Thranduil and Tauriel after the Battle of the 5 Armies. How Tauriel is dealing with the aftermath of the battle as she goes back to Mirkwood and realizes that she has always wanted Thranduil's love and affection in her life. It turns out there has been more behind their turbulent relationship than they let themselves believe. The story follows their relationship from the days and weeks after the battle to many years later, during the events from LOTR and after. I absolutely loved their chemistry in the Hobbit and this is my first fanfic. I tried to keep the characters as close to the movie versions as I could (since Tauriel only appears in the movies and Thranduil's personality is only vaguely presented in the books). I am also including info about what happened to Thranduil's realm after the Hobbit from the LOTR book appendices...
