Tarah is no princess. She's the dragon shifter tasked with the princess's protection. Forced together from a young age, Tarah and Cherry have become friends closer than sisters. But Cherry is trapped in her tower, and Tarah has been forced to become a killer to protect her. Their relationship is anything but simple.
Marton is a young scholar who dreams of proving that magic still exists in the world. When he comes into the girls' lives, he upsets their routine existence and reveals what's been going on in the lands outside their keep, including the legends that are told of the fearsome dragon who kidnapped a princess.
Someone has been spreading lies in the Five Kingdoms, and Tarah and her friends must go on a quest to find out who, and why. The truths they uncover have the power to rewrite the course of history, if only they are brave enough to act.
In the midst of a quest for the fate of her world, Tarah grapples with her codependent friendship with the princess, her frighteningly new chemistry with Marton, and the fact that the king, and a lot of other people, want her dead.
(This is Book 1 in the Kingdoms of the Kin series, but tells a complete story on its own, no cliffhanger.)
