"How does it feel?" I asked suddenly, before I could stop myself. "Being... the enemy?"
Caspian's expression didn't change, but I could see the slight stiffening of his shoulders. The question was blunt-too blunt-but it had slipped out without thought. His answer came after a pause, slow and thoughtful. "I suppose it depends on which side you're standing on."
I didn't know how to respond to that. There was a weight in his words, something more profound than I had expected. Something heavy, as if he, too, carried the burden of his crown, his kingdom, and everything they expected of him.
