More or less the basic plot is that the world of Edenren is at war. The main forces that are a threat to the "safe zones" not currently at war are the Reaper Guild, the Moon Den, and a fraction of the Templar Order. Scattered throughout the world however are seven magical swords called the Holy Swords one of which is Zangetsu and each have rules to them with some being the same once they've been claimed and during this we see the story of John Unravel.
