Caleb handed Mandy a small box.
"What's this for?" Mandy asked, tilting his head in confusion.
Caleb hesitated before saying, "Well... you've been sick and all, so you might be-"
"Oh no!" Mandy cried, clutching his chest. "You think I might have it? My life is over!"
Caleb chuckled and reached out to soothe him. "No, no, it's okay. If it happens, I can take care of you. And besides... a baby is a good thing. Usually."
Mandy blinked, his panic shifting to confusion. "Baby? What do you mean?"
Caleb looked at him with amusement. "Uh... the baby you could be carrying... if you're pregnant."
Mandy's mouth dropped open. "Pregnant?! I thought this was a COVID test!"
Caleb burst out laughing. "No, honey. Your symptoms, plus, y'know... the activities we've been doing? They kinda mean you could be pregnant."
Mandy's eyes filled with tears. "No, no, no, this can't be happening!"
Caleb squeezed his hand. "It's gonna be fine. Let's just take the test and see, okay?"
Caleb led him to the bathroom, and Mandy, still sniffling, did as instructed. They waited in silence until the test finally showed two lines.
Mandy's eyes widened, and suddenly, he jumped up in excitement. "Two lines! That means positive! And positive means good, right? We're not having a baby!"
Caleb tried to hold back his laughter as he gently pulled Mandy into his arms. "No, babe," he said, voice warm and patient. "Positive means... we are having a baby."
Mandy froze, staring at the test. His lips parted, his eyes darting back to Caleb's reassuring smile.
"Oh," he whispered.
