Yuri Plisetsky and Natalia Romanova have spent their lives chasing each other. As childhood rivals turned inseparable friends, they have pushed, challenged, and sometimes infuriated one another on and off the ice. Natalia, Viktor Nikiforov's prodigious niece, has always been just a step ahead-graceful, confident, untouchable. Yuri, fierce and relentless, has fought to close the gap, determined to surpass her.
But as they grow older, their rivalry shifts. Yuri starts seeing Natalia differently, her presence lingering in his mind beyond the rink. Natalia, always one step ahead, realizes her feelings first but keeps them buried, waiting for him to catch up.
Through victories, losses, and distance, their bond is tested as they navigate the brutal world of figure skating and the emotions they refuse to face. When Yuri finally steps out of Natalia's shadow, he realizes his greatest competition was never against her.
