Years ago, Tristan Holt left the small town that shaped him, leaving behind a world of memories, regrets, and a girl who once held his heart.
Now he's back to finish the degree he abandoned long ago, seeking something he's not sure of-closure, redemption, or maybe just a place to call home. But the boy who left is now a man hardened by the world, wrapped in cold ambition and a heart locked away.
Olivia James stayed behind, carving out a life in the town that felt too small for her dreams, all while quietly nursing the wounds left by the boy she once loved. When Tristan reappears, he's nothing like the person she remembers-and yet, in the quiet spaces between their words, something familiar stirs. Their past is tangled, messy, and raw, but the connection between them is undeniable, even if it's now laced with anger and resentment.
In the echo of long-forgotten whispers and moments shared under a sky that once belonged to them, they must decide: Is there any space left for love, or is their history too broken to mend?
"Tangled Roots" is a story about love lost and found, about the weight of what we leave behind, and the courage it takes to embrace what's ahead. As Tristan and Olivia are drawn back to each other, they must reckon with their past-and discover whether some bonds are too strong to break.

She hated riding the subway.
It was cramped, smelled, and the seats were extremely uncomfortable to sit on for hours on end.
Now add a group of crazy mask-wearing, weapon-wielding, maniacs to the ever growing list of reasons why Gemma hated riding the subway.
Gemma Conners is your average eighteen year old and for the past two years she's been riding the subway to and from school with no problem. She always expected the same ol' same ol'. Cramped spaces, hard seats, and perverts staring her up and down and "accidentally" bumping into her and blaming it on the train as it jostled people into one another.
Never did she expect a group of masked men to rush in and hold everyone onboard hostage, demanding that they all play along with their sick and twisted idea of a "game".
It was either that or die.
To add on to her ever growing list of problems, one of the passengers onboard just so happens to be Archer Daniels, your typical high school "heartthrob" and Gemma's classmate. Her day just kept getting better and better.
With Gemma's luck, she'd be lucky if she lasted five minutes.
Yep. She really hated the subway.
