A young security ensign named Rex Mitchell on the California Class Starship, The U.S.S Cerritos, gets roped into various misadventures alongside his fellow lower deck friends, Mariner, Boimler, Tendi, and Rutherford. From saving the entire galaxy to getting through the daily grind. As Rex gets to live the life he always wanted exploring the distant planets, uncovering mysteries, forming incredible friendships, suffer great losses, finding love, and face a great challenge from his past. All in the goal to become the best security officer in Starfleet...and hopefully not end up like a red shirt.

FREELANCER. BOOK ONE of the FREELANCER SERIES
Back in the late 1990's a great PC game came out called FREELANCER. It was an open galaxy adventure space game that had a good storyline. I spent untold hours flying through space in this game and I always thought it was ripe for a spinoff side story but I never pursued it. Nearly 30 years later I discovered a website called GOOD OLD GAMES where you could find and download many great games of yore. There I found FREELANCER. So I climbed back into the cockpit of a starfighter after so long and have enjoyed it even more than I did way back when. Once again the possibility of a side story presented itself and this time I have risen to the challenge. I have always been an avid reader of SCI-FI and I will be the first to tell you that I have blatantly used ideas from other sci-fi works in my story. I have also used names of real people and places to flesh out my narrative. And as a warning for those offended by sexual content, I have included some pretty erotic sexual segments in my story, so you may want to close your eyes as you read those parts. If you have ever enjoyed playing the FREELANCER PC game, you may enjoy my story. Let me know. As a side note to the story: In the story there is a space station named Lajes.
