Kayla is the best general in the Lion Kingdom's military. However, she feels a growing resentment towards the king and his orders.
Niki and Kayla come from two very different worlds, but when their paths meet, they are forced to make a long journey, finding secrets, enemies, and allies along the way.
This story takes place in a fantasy world where animals are the humans and bugs are the animals. There are no humans. This world is set in a modern renaissance world I guess? There are modern inventions but other things have yet to be invented, kind of like the books Nimona and Dungeon Critters.
