Emma and Ryan, who recently started dating, share a sweet moment in the bustling cafeteria during Emma's birthday lunch. Ryan surprises her with a gift basket filled with treats and flowers. However, their joy is interrupted when Avery, a girl who once had a crush on Ryan, confronts them out of jealousy. In a fit of rage, she pours chocolate milk over Ryan and warns Emma that he will break her heart. Despite the drama, Emma stands up for her relationship with Ryan, asserting their right to be together. Ryan supports her, and after Avery storms off, the atmosphere in the cafeteria shifts from mockery to support for the couple, allowing them to reclaim their moment and celebrate their connection despite the chaos. However, after prom, Ryan cheats on Emma with Avery, leading to Emma and Ryan's breakup. In response to her heartbreak, Emma writes a book titled "10 Things I Hate About Ryan."
