Almost five years of pretending it meant nothing. Will was supposed to be the safe one-the nice guy. The kind you marry, not mess around with. But one week of late-night phone calls, almosts, and lingering stolen glances turned into a night she can't forget. For a moment she thought he could be the exception. That maybe he could see through her. Except it ended like it always did-with her being reminded that she isn't the girl anyone takes seriously. Now he's back in her orbit. Still golden. Still maddening. Still looking at her like she broke something he never admits he gave her. So she plays her part. Acts like nothing ever meant anything. Like she's the kind of girl who doesn't care. The kind of girl he always assumed she was. Because if she can prove it didn't matter, maybe she won't have to admit that it did. Some things were never supposed to last. Others never really end.
