Against the Tides

In the wake of her father's sudden death, Parker Izumi's life is uprooted when her mom makes the executive decision to move their family down to Charleston. With promises of a much-needed fresh start, Parker is thrown into the highbrow society of the Southern elite before she even has time to unpack. Now, she has to spend the summer before her junior year attending country clubs and extravagant parties, neither of which she's accustomed to or cares for.

Having grown up just barely scraping by, 17-year-old Chase Brooks lives his life with reckless abandonment alongside his close-knit group of friends. Unlike those on the other side of the river yucking it up with their yachts and their McMansions, Chase has nothing to lose and spends his days wild and carefree without fear of what could happen. That is, until he meets Parker and discovers the one thing he's terrified to live without: love.

Together, Parker and Chase dive headfirst into their whirlwind romance. But seeing as they come from different worlds, the odds are stacked against them in more ways than one. Through the ups and downs of their journey, they learn to navigate the delicate pitfalls of falling in love in the face of a society hellbent on keeping them apart.
