Next to bullying and loneliness, he has a ton of more conflicts inside him. His mother moved away with him after his father's alcoholism turned into pure anger and violence against them.
When his one and only best friend forces him to a party, everything changes. Elijah is suddenly confronted with new feelings and the huge wish to move on and find a new place in the world. But that seems way too difficult in this black hole of thoughts he ended up in.
