Vi and Powder are put into foster care from a young age. Powder has been dotted on and adored while Vi has been cast to the side because she's older. Very few Foster houses are good, and most of them neglect them to some degree, but Vi is always there to protect Powder. She promised Powder she'd never leave her side. Until she's forced too. Powder and Vi stay at a foster house, the parent's adore Powder, but do not want the overprotective teenager, so they keep Powder and send Vi along her way. Vi now has to figure out a way to keep in contact with Powder without her adoptive parents figuring it out and trying to stop it, while surviving the foster houses she's put in. Vi begins to get more rowdy and violent. She starts fighting at school, and stops caring about her grades. Foster houses get more and more neglectful and in some cases abusive. But Vi never gives up on her dream to one day see Powder again, and fight for custody of her. But how will she do it, with no one in her corner helping her?
