Everything in life is simple but yet complicated when you're almost a teenager, soon to be in middle school, & living in a struggling household... at least that's what life was for Jesse Archer. But at least he had his best friend, Layla Hargrove to get through it. After school, they'd explore the woods, create stories, or just talk about life & what they hope the future holds.
Until that one Saturday changed it all, when Jesse was attending his sister's dance recital... suddenly, his life is ripped apart when Layla is reported missing, possibly dead. He doesn't believe it, he doesn't want to. Neither does the rest of the small town...
