In a world devastated by the Rage Virus, Piltover has turned its back on Zaun, sealing its gates and leaving the Undercity to fall into chaos. The infected-called Rageborn-are fast, relentless, and violently contagious, spreading through blood and bites within seconds. Civilization has collapsed into violence and survival.
Caitlyn Kiramman, a former Enforcer clinging to her morals, ventures into Zaun on a desperate mission and finds Vi, a brawler thought to be dead. Vi has survived the virus-somehow. She fights like one of them, brutal and unrelenting, but she hasn't turned. At least... not yet.
As they fight their way through a city overrun by monsters and worse, Caitlyn and Vi form a fragile bond. Caitlyn believes Vi may hold the key to understanding-or stopping-the Rage Virus. Unfortunately, it happened accidentally, and just as Vi had learned her sister was seriously ill, and was finally starting to get through to her. To make things even worse, she then learns from Caitlyn that her sister will almost certainly be sentenced to death. But Vi isn't ready to give up on her sister so easily, especially not because of some topside laws. Besides, it's just concrete walls keeping Jinx in, and... she doesn't call Vi Fat Hands for nothing... This book took me WAY longer to write than I thought it would.
