Akie had always believed in second chances. When her ex, Kei, left, she held onto the hope that someday, Kei would return. And when that day came, Akie was ready to do everything-anything-to win her back.
Kei had once been the center of her world, the one person who made her believe in forever. But forever, it seemed, was a fragile thing. Because when Kei finally spoke, the words shattered every last piece of Akie's heart.
"I've decided that Ana is the person I want to be with. For her, I would risk everything."
Akie felt the air leave her lungs. Her mind screamed, "Kala ko ba ako mahal mo? Pero bakit siya ang pinili mo kaysa sa'kin? Am I not enough?" But the words never made it past her lips.
Kei continued, her voice steady, unwavering. "I'm not expecting you to be fine with my decision, but I hope you respect it. Please. I realized that I can't lose her anymore, and it's time to stop being indecisive. This time, I have to choose. And I choose her."
A sharp, invisible knife twisted in Akie's chest. She wanted to scream, to beg, to ask Kei why love had to be this cruel. But deep down, she already knew-love was never fair.
Kei had moved on.
And now, Akie had to do the same.
As Kei walked away, hand in hand with Ana, Akie stood frozen in place, the weight of heartbreak pressing down on her. Tears welled in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall.
Because this time, she had to be strong.
