After Lucius's treacherous secret mission is exposed by an enemy, the Royal Consort falls from grace, loses his husband's love and respect, and is imprisoned for a year. At court, Everyone speculates on when King Doiran will divorce and execute him.
Just when Lucius thinks things can't possibly get worse, fate mocks him once more. He wakes up one day to find himself branded as a slave. Stripped of royal privileges, he begins to witness the true horror and cruelty of a world where humans are dominated and used as livestock.
With help from a werewolf friend, Lucius narrowly escaped a fate worse than death and left Eternia. But as someone who has been "defiled" by vampires, he finds no welcome, consolation, or even safety back home, either.
