"Blessed are the Mortai, for the blood they shed purifies the souls of the Moritei. Blessed or the Moritei, for their souls traverse the ethereal of purity and eternity. Blessed be to those who serve in the holy name of Necropolay. Blessed be to those who Moritei in service of Necropolay. The Ether calls, blessed are those who answer."

In an Empire devoted to death, there are those who's souls are locked into the physical plane. Never to taste death or dwell within it's cold embrace. Living Saints of the people of Necropolay, they are hailed as shepherds of the Necru people and Harbingers of Death to all others. The rise of an Extimortai is exceptionally rare, but when one appears it is cause for celebration. Though, not for everyone.

Here we have a story about Phee, a young girl with dreams of serving her Empire on the blood soaked battlefield till her final breath. However, The Ether appears to have a different path for her to walk.

Trepidation: Act 1 by CashewNutt12
10 parts Complete Mature
10,000 years in the future, humanity has long since inhabited a region of space simply known as the "Habitable Zone of the Milky Way," or simply the "Habitable Zone." Many advancements have been made, though many are irrelevant to the billions - or perhaps more - of souls scattered across space. Everything operates under the silent, vague, but present scrutiny of the gods, with thaumaturgic talents dominating many human cultures in some capacity. Churches reign over the post-Altarum territories a century after the Silence. The World, at least as far as many within the Habitable Zone are concerned, is a cold, thoughtless plane of existence. It is within a single vessel, known as the CSS Groundskeeper, do things begin to influence the "Things To Be," as labeled by followers of the pantheon. Within this ship, two individuals will face the beginning of what is to be unimaginable horrors within an unforgiving universe, both with the same goal: do not succumb to the darkness. Trepidation: Act I is the first story in what is to be a much longer novel detailing the story of two individuals in the cold universe. Act I may contain disturbing content for some readers. Special thanks to Lilian (liliantherat@bsky.social) Elise S. (Seventh Bean) Colt Klassic C.W.K. Peregrine Nasturtium_K Chaz Shade For inspiration and your characters for novel adaptation. Trepidation, Act I and future acts, would not be possible without all of you. (I am awestruck at how well this has done. The read to vote ratio is something I never could have expected, and I thank both my friends and all new readers for current and continued support, even if the support is merely reading. Seriously, thank you.)

As a human, I've always wondered what's life after death. It's always there at the back of my mind. Will I ascend to heaven or will I get burnt in hell? I'm so immersed on the thought of it that I've never once questioned if angels or demons even exist. But even if I did, I won't have an absolute answer either way. The world we live in has so much more to it than what meets the eye. They're everywhere watching our every move, waiting for our last breath. And when our time comes he'll be there gladly to take us away. -- A/N: Regular release schedule: Once a week (Due to circumstances, I will be indefinitely updating. Life After Death (Book 1 of After Death Trilogy) by Sweet_Mango
40 parts Complete Mature
COMPLETED! First book of the After Death Trilogy. --------------------------- My life ended with a stupid fall. My afterlife began in a monster-infested realm called Injusto. --------------------------- I always thought Death would be peaceful. An end to the struggle, the pain, the quiet exhaustion of just existing. I was so wrong. I woke up in Injusto, a realm of lost souls and terrifying creatures, and learned that death wasn't an end, but a violent, chaotic second chance. Here, survival is a daily battle, and god-like Ethereals bestow cryptic blessings that feel more like burdens. My only plan was to not die a second, even more embarrassing, time. Then he appeared. Krin, a stoic Dragon-Lord from a secret, floating sanctuary. He saved me, offering a glimpse of something I thought was lost forever: hope. My second chance is turning into an epic quest I'm not ready for. And I'm not sure I'll ever be. ========== Copyright Copyright © 2025 by Claire Burns. All rights reserved. Do those memories become the things we cherish for a lifetime? If the mind forgets does our heart remember? All these things wrapped in emotions and feelings; do these memories make us mortal, do they make us human? In a world of legends, where religion, science, and magic meld together, there are those who live their lives as well as they can, holding on to their memories and allowing their feelings to guide and move them toward a better future through life and into death. And then there are those whose lives are unending, everlasting, and unchanging-the Amara- the Immortals. Four lives have begun to move along a path bound to the fate of every immortal. Although their lives cannot be given up or taken, they move according to a destiny-a curse-that was left behind by those of the past many centuries ago. A prophecy has foretold the deaths of the deathless, but who or what could bring an end to the Immortals? In this novel, the immortals must face the possibility of extinction as the events of an ancient prophesy begin to unfold.
