"I don't want either of you here right now," she finally said, her voice low, almost pleading, though she hated that it came out like that. She didn't want to be weak, didn't want to show them how much she was struggling, how much she hated herself for it. But everything about tonight felt wrong-too much pressure, too many expectations. Too much feeling.

Syrus's expression softened, and for a split second, she thought she saw something like understanding flash in his eyes before it was replaced by that same dangerous grin. "We'll leave you to it, then," he said, but there was an edge to the words, like he wasn't done with her just yet.

Allen looked over his shoulder, his gaze meeting hers, searching for something. When she didn't meet his eyes, he sighed, but didn't push it. "We'll talk later," he said quietly, before turning to follow Syrus.

Lyra didn't watch them go. She couldn't. Not when the weight of everything-of both of them-was still hanging on her shoulders, like a storm waiting to break.

The moon was still high above, but the calm it should have given her felt so far away. There was no peace in her heart, only confusion, and a deep, gnawing feeling that she didn't know how much longer she could keep running from whatever this was.

And somehow, she wasn't sure she wanted to anymore.

"Goddess, you're so perfect." he breathed the words, staring up at her as she moved rhythmically up and down above him, her breasts bouncing as he gripped her hips, trying to hold back the wave that he felt building inside of him. She just looked and felt so fucking good. "Do female wolves mark their mates?" She leaned forward as she asked the question in a low voice, sliding her arms along his chest as she shifted her position, moving her legs close together so that he was even tighter inside of her as his hands came down to grip her ass, thrusting into her from below. "Yes." he was barely able to gasp out the word. "Not in my pack. But in many- most even- other packs." "Why not yours?" He felt her mouth slip forward, her tongue teasing the same place he had marked on her body half an hour earlier. "The men in our pack just haven't allowed it. It's a sign of claiming and-" her teeth grazed the spot lightly, not hard enough to break the skin, but he felt a mixture of pleasure and pain shoot through his body and he drew in a sharp breath, his head tilting back automatically as he offered her better access to the spot. "It shows that you belong to your mate. Doesn't it? Like I belong to you?" "Yes." He murmured, gripping her more tightly, so close to the edge he knew he'd lose control at any moment. He only hoped he could bring her to the peak of pleasure again first. He'd thought she was close. "Nova." He knew his voice sounded desperate. "Can I mark you, Alpha?" ---------------------------------- When Nova stumbles into pack lands and is captured by the Blazing Moon pack she knows that she has to escape. "How dare you try to reject her, you fucking freak! You hurt my friend, so I am going to hurt you." She threatened powerfully, grabbing him by his throat. "You will try to like her, and at least give her a damn chance. I am Alpha Hudson's mate. Get over it." She dropped him to the ground, her long hair swaying in the breeze. Claws grew from his hands, choosing to swipe at her ankle. Noticing his attack, she grabbed his arm. Getting down to his level, the crack of his bone snapping in half echoed in the morning air. An ivory tip stuck out of his arm, my inner wolf howling for her. "I don't love her." He declared desperately, reaching for her with her other hand. "I love you, and did when we dated." Her fists clenched tightly, blood dripping onto the ground. Shaking her head, she stood up. Fresh tears streamed down her cheeks, a broken smile shattering my heart. "You broke up with me, remember?" She snapped icily, trying to fight the tears. "You left me the day my parents died, and told me that you couldn't handle the baggage. So fuck you! Treat her well or I will kill you if she gets hurt more." She was trying to unlock her car, Grayson towered over her. A silver blade shimmered in his hand, her foot knocking it out of his hand. "Your parents were right about you." He taunted cruelly, his gray eyes darkening. "They were right to call you a loser, and a failure all of the time. They paired me with you to improve yourself, and learn obedience like the good dog you should be." Enough was enough, her body collapsing to her knees. Parking the bike, she looked relieved as I rushed to her side. "You don't deserve my sister." I barked bitterly, scooping her up. "And you managed to break Evie again. Great job man." Tears streamed down her cheeks, her finger gripping my sleeve. She never told me about her home life, guilt eating me raw. Everyday she bounded by my side with the warmest smile.
