More than a century ago, the once-mighty human-dwarven alliance of Ostrovia was destroyed during a brutal series of civil wars and political malfeasances. Ancient blood magic and dwarven machinery fueled the death and destruction. Kings turned on one another, and the great wizards were corrupted by their own power. What had once held a nation together now doomed it.

In the last days of the fall, the orc tribes, united by chaos and bloodshed, descended from the mountains and destroyed the war-torn kingdom, becoming the new dominate race of the land, leaving humanity on the brink of extinction.

During those final days, a lone ship of desperate survivors set course on a bold expedition into the perilous and uncharted Sea. Against all odds, they crashed upon the shores of Avaloria... a realm steeped in ancient magic and guarded by a living forests teaming with dangerous enemies, and undiscovered wonder.

Now, a generation later, under the steadfast leadership of King Aldros Valtir, the descendants of that fateful journey labor to rebuild civilization in the new world.

At the edge of the wild frontier, young Aelar Varos has grown up in Harrow's End, a modest village, clinging to the untamed forests of Avaloria. But when Aelar stumbles upon something impossible deep within the ancient forest, he unwittingly attracts the attention something more powerful than he can fathom, setting his destiny on an uncertain course.

Cedric Valtir, eldest son of the King and heir to the throne, is loved by his men and women in equal measure. In the bustling heart of Valoria, where the lively corridors of The Silver Stag echo with hope and revelry, Cedric bridges his regal past with the promise of a new future. With his effortless grace, keen intellect, and warm humor, he inspires his people as he listens to their dreams and fears, even as whispers of impending threats swirl around him. But what will fate have in mind when he leaves the walls of the city that defines him?

"What do you want?" She asked. Panicked, backing away. The vampire followed, stepping forward, dangerously close, looking her over. "You." His voice deep, growling. "Me?" "You." " Me? No, you don't. You think you do, but you don't. It is a mistake." "No it's not." "I came for you, Andie." He grabbed her by the waist, pulled her in close and nudged his face into her neck. "Oh god, don't bite her," Davis pleaded. "Please don't bite her." "Davis you are tired, go relax. Go back to her apartment and sleep." "No Davis, stay here." He left at the vampire's last word. "Please listen to me," she begged.Holding her hands up against his chest. "Shh shh shh. do not fear me." He assured her, whispering softly in her ear. Making her weak in the knees. "But I am afraid this is.'' She stuttered. ''This was. You see there was an accident. I sprayed you with a love potion." "A love potion? How sweet." He began to nibble at her neck. She could not help liking the way he felt against her. But quickly reminded herself. HE IS A VAMPIRE! "No really, it is not sweet at all. It was an accident. I had it in my bag thinking it was mace, I wanted to mace you," she explained. "I suppose that's nicer then," he said to her. "No, that's not nice at all. But you grabbed me, and well, that's what you deserved." "I was trying to warn you to run, meant you no harm." "No. I suppose you didn't, but you got sprayed, and now you love me, it is not real love." The vampire struggled to not laugh. Silly mortal. He let her go on. © Copyright 2014 Aronel Loni.
