The year is 1889.
Jesse McCall is a cowboy, running from his past after a bounty was placed on his head for a murder he had no part in. While traveling, Jesse picks up Truth, a small town preacher literally beaten down after standing up to the sheriff. With no where left to turn, the two of them travel north, out towards Utah and away from any danger that might follow them.
But Jesse underestimates just how bad people want Truth dead, how harsh the desert can be, and how much his and the preacher's relationship would change on their journey.

It's also written in country/western lingo so some things won't seem grammatically correct. Also, this book is based on the Wild West time period (1865-1895). Some of the places that will be mentioned in this book are fictional places I have come up with, others are (or were) real but may look different than they actually looked in history. Lone Star | Rhett Abbott by favblondie1
7 parts Ongoing Mature
Wabang, Wyoming ain't big enough for the both of them-or at least, that's how it's felt since sophomore year. Rhett Abbott and Abigail Reed were inseparable growing up. Their families' ranches stretched across the prairie from one another, and their childhoods were built on bonfires, rodeos, lake trips, and long summer nights. Abbott and Reed-two of the biggest names in town. Then came the night everything changed. A mid-autumn family camping trip, a fire pit under a sky full of stars, and a kiss neither of them forgot. But instead of drawing closer, they both froze-too scared to make a move, too proud to admit the truth. Rhett drifted toward Maria Olivares. Abby, out of heartbreak and maybe revenge, ended up with a Tillerson. Trevor Tillerson. Rhett saw them behind the Buffalo Bar, wrapped up in each other, and just like that, years of friendship went up in flames. They spent the rest of high school as enemies with matching bruised egos, sharp tongues, and lingering stares. Then Abby left town right after graduation, chasing a country music dream in Nashville-and Rhett never heard from her again. Until now. Six years later, Abby's back in Wabang-washed-up, heartbruised, and coasting on the last fumes of a stalled career. But this time, she's not just passing through. Thrown back together by old memories and even older tension, Rhett and Abby find themselves circling that same fire again. The feelings never left. The timing was just wrong. This is a second-chance, enemies-to-lovers romance filled with bull rides, bonfires, bar brawls-and a love that never really died. Because in Wabang, some feuds never fade. And neither does first love.

In the untamed American frontier of 1870, 17-year-old Noemi is sold into marriage to Riven, a hardened Civil War veteran with a reputation as a ruthless cowboy. Scarred by his past and burdened with the responsibility of inheriting a sprawling ranch in Oregon, Riven is determined to keep his new bride at arms length. As they journey across the treacherous Oregon Trail, bound for a life neither of them envisioned, Noemi's fierce spirit and innocence begin to thaw Riven's hardened heart. Despite their rocky start, an unexpected bond forms between them, filled with moments of playful competition, mutual respect, and a deepening attraction that neither can ignore. But the trail is fraught with dangers, both from the wild terrain and the ghosts of their pasts. As they face the challenges of survival together, Noemi learns to harness her own strength, demanding to learn the skills that will allow her to stand beside Riven as his equal. Along the way, she uncovers a softer side of the man she's bound to, while Riven is forced to confront his fears of vulnerability and the possibility to love. Yet, as they near their destination, the question remains: can they truly leave behind the pain of their pasts and forge a future together on the unforgiving frontier, or will the harsh realities of the Wild West tear them apart before they even have a chance?
