Prologue - The Crimson Omen They always spoke of change as if it were inevitable, as if humans were designed to adapt to whatever the world threw at them. But what if the world itself no longer followed its own rules? What if adaptation was no longer an option? I never felt like I belonged, not in the streets where I wandered, not among the people who passed me by. Emotions were foreign to me-joy, sorrow, love, fear-mere words without meaning. While others clung to their humanity, I questioned its purpose. That night, the world proved my instincts right. The sky darkened unnaturally, the moon glowing with an eerie brilliance before shifting to a deep crimson. The wind howled as if whispering secrets lost to time. Then, the first drops fell-red, thick, reeking of iron. It wasn't rain. It was blood. The city stood frozen, eyes wide with terror, but I merely watched. Fear, panic, despair-none of it touched me. The whispers in the air carried a single message: "The era of blood has begun." And as the first screams shattered the silence, I knew one thing for certain-this world was never meant to be saved.

They said it would only feel like a moment. Close my eyes, drift off, and wake beneath another sun. I believed them. We all did. The world was ending, and The Passage Program was our last chance to save what was left of it. Sleep through the ruin. Wake to a beginning. I don't remember falling asleep. Just the weight of the air, the pressure in my chest, the feeling that something inside me was... slipping. If I'm awake now, why can't I move? If I'm alive, why does everything feel so still? They said I'd wake to a new world. They never said what it would cost.
