In the oppressive and mechanized Steel Nation, where extreme industrialization has forged a brutal and controlled society, Cat survives on the fringes, hiding behind a white cat mask and honing her mechanical skills to defy the authorities. Small and agile, she is a skilled thief, capable of infiltrating heavily guarded factories to steal rare parts and perfect her inventions-including P1, her highly intelligent mechanical spider.
But when a heist goes wrong and her escape puts her in the crosshairs of the Rebels, Cat finds herself entangled in a conflict much larger than she ever imagined. Nolan, a mysterious young man with ties to the resistance, sees her as a crucial asset in the fight against the oppressive regime. Reluctant, Cat resists, for her true goal is to escape the Steel Nation and find her long-lost brother.
As she perfects her greatest invention-mechanical wings that could finally grant her the freedom she craves-Cat uncovers buried secrets about her own origins and her family's past. She is being pressured by all of the drama around her and all it does is make her want to scream. Her past has always made her stronger, but adding her current situation to her past trauma seems to be slowly killing her. At the same time, her sister, Crystal never fit in since came back from running away when she was younger. With her multiple piercings and her sharp attitude, everything about her seems to be foreign to the other nekos. The wolves from Ashclan are slowly starting to tear their clan apart, and a castaway empire comes back to town. Nothing is in place and the gears of destiny are rusted in age. They must answer many questions. How will they defeat the tyrants? How does their past play a role in a situation they never meant to get themselves into?
