A new beginning; that's what we all find ourselves wanting at least once in our unsatisfying, insignificant lives. I found mine in Castle Rock, Oregon, more specifically on the summer of 1959 That summer was when I made something of myself. I discovered compassion. I found where I belonged. I loved my pals, my boys, more than I had ever witnessed physically possible. I created a story for my name. That small town of 1,280 people is more than just a place I've lived in, but it was my home.

The tall one was smoking a joint, the one with glasses was giving the fat boy a nuggie, and there was a brunette, I couldn't see his face his back was to me. I was watching them as I accidentally ran into someone and dropped all my stuff. He walked away and laughed. As I was picking up my papers I saw a hand reach out in front of me. "I was twelve going on thirteen the first time I saw a dead human being" It's the summer of 1959 when a group of five kids set out to find the dead body of a kid named Ray Brower. They lived in a small town called Castle Rock. Everybody knew everybody and everybody knew everyone's secrets. There was Teddy DuChamp who was the craziest among the five kids. There was Vern Tessio who most everybody picked on. There was Gordon LaChance, the talented writer who lost his older brother Dennis in a jeep accident. There was Chris Chambers, he came from a bad family and everyone just knew he'd turn out bad. Finally there was Alexis Merrill, the younger sister to Ace Merrill who was the leader of The Cobra's. They were all the best of friends and would do anything for each other. Chris and Alexis were very close to each other. After all Chris was the one that understood her the most. They both came from bad families and wanted nothing more than to escape. It was clear to most everyone that they were in love, but not even they could see the connection between them. Love is a natural thing. Most everyone experiences love at least once in their lives. But what happens when the two kids with the worst reputation in Castle Rock fall in love? I stood peering over the cold lifeless body that lay before my eyes. I had always thought of death the enemy, but right now, I blessed it upon the person who is now at peace. Sometimes you don't need to be the smartest, or the fastest, but you do need to be wisest. Someone once said when you pass, if you can count your true friends on one hand you are beyond lucky, and I even though I did not like the person that lay before me, I know that he once had true friends, including me.
