Haru lives life listlessly, his interests having abandoned him. He feels like a shell of his previous self. Yearning for a break, he takes time off college. His mother decides to send him away to his late grandmother's house, for a change of pace and mind, and for the maintenance of the crumbling abode. Reluctantly Haru travels to the house in tucked away in the countryside, far from the bustling city of Tokyo. What he encounters there turns his quiet reserved life upside down.
