#Book one of the Zephandrel series.

---
In a kingdom of power and privilege, two sisters live beneath the shadow of a noble house-one fair as ivory, the other dark as night. Though bound by love, their bond is not one of blood, and in the eyes of the world, their differences are impossible to ignore. The nobleman who raised them cherishes them both, but his wife will never accept a black child her own.

When the royal family invites the sisters to the king's palace, a new world opens before them-one of wealth, beauty, and secrets hidden deep within the castle walls. Yet, while one sister is content with the jewels, balls, and luxury of court life, the other finds herself drawn to the mysteries that lie beyond the gilded halls. There, she discovers hidden corners of the palace, forgotten histories, and whispers of a truth that could unravel the very fabric of the kingdom.

As the two sisters grow closer to the king's sons, one prince begins to show an interest in them-igniting a rivalry that neither of them could have foreseen. Tensions rise, loyalties are tested, and buried secrets begin to surface. But the greatest danger may not be the love that divides them-it may be the truths they both are beginning to uncover, truths that could change everything they thought they knew about their family, their kingdom, and themselves.

In a world full of magic, mystical creatures, and four different Kingdoms ruled by one king, ancient cities, hidden secrets and much more. whose to say one of the two sisters won't get to curious and stumble into something she shouldn't have.

Queen of Silence and Ruin by mmaesmith

High in a castle, where the walls never remember warmth, there is a room not spoken of. It sits behind velvet drapes and locked doors, tucked between the west tower and the chapel that hasn't known prayer in decades. No one goes there now. Not the maids. Not the priests. Not even the king. But once, there was a secret kept there. She was born with quiet in her bones, a child spun from porcelain and bloodline. Promised before her first breath, bartered before she could speak. They raised her in silence, trained her in fear. She learned early that disobedience was louder than screams. That beauty meant stillness. That girls who wanted anything burned. She was a perfect pupil. The governess fed her manners with a silver spoon. The priest taught her to fold her hands, never her spine. The tutor, he taught her to fear her own voice. They called her Little Dove. Not because she was sweet, but because she was caged. Wings clipped before she ever flew. She was taught to listen, never ask. To smile, never speak. To suffer, and never let it show. But secrets rot in silence. And even a dove, locked long enough in the dark, learns to bite. They never noticed when she stopped blinking. Never felt the moment the stillness turned inward sharp, feral, waiting. By the time they betrothed her to a man three times her age, it was already too late. She had begun to remember her name. And one day soon, the castle would remember her too, not as the girl they silenced, but as the woman who made the walls bleed for ever daring to forget her.

What happens when narration becomes magic and monsters become stories? When meaning crumbles beneath the whispers of tales, and certainties drown in the din of words, truth wears a thousand faces at the windows of night. Survive. When the untold fades, and the unseen is lost. Endure. As kingdoms fall and life ebbs away, as souls awaken only to cage themselves within the lines of pages. Fight. For what remains is a silent longing to wake again, upon the shores of a dream unborn. ------------------------------------------------------------ A multi-character fantasy tale set in a world that has forgotten how to define itself, where eras chase one another in confusion. Knights confront the unknown, detectives battle dragons, and vampires raise dogs. The stars are wrathful, the kingdoms have fallen, and magic stands stripped bare. ---------------------------------------------------------------- For those who do not like indirect suggestion: A cruel, innovative magic system A dark fantasy that blends classic fantasy, horror, and the supernatural. Long story and slow build (although you can judge it in the second chapter) Multiple characters and a big world Exploiting (inspiration from) myths, epics and legends in worldbuilding Legends from all over the world: Europe, Africa, America, Middle East, Australia, Asia, Ireland etc. Mystery, investigation, and the need to analyze, focus, and use your knowledge and abilities to reach conclusions and form your opinion before the characters do (you are part of the investigation, not just the characters) Warning: "Contains graphic violence" "Not suitable for children"
