Vera had everything planned until one night changed her life forever. Denied the education she worked for and forced into motherhood by violence, Vera grows up fast in a world that offers no second chances. Eight years later, she is surviving, not living, when the return of her childhood best friend reopens wounds she thought had healed. What begins as a reunion soon unravels into a story of hidden wealth, family betrayal, and secrets buried. As Vera navigates love, loyalty, and motherhood, she is confronted with a choice that could either destroy her or finally set her free. No matter how absurd this story may seem, please remember that it is TRUE. It happened in real life. The fatal accident, not made up; the girl who had to ingratiate others to fit in, not made up; the rich, narcissistic girl who demanded compliment every day, not made up; the hostile girl who suffered through unimaginable pain, not made up. It looks fake, yes, but coincidence did bring these girls together, and Ella Cass, the author, is one of them. Which one of the girls? I'll leave you to guess. A note from Ella Cass: 'If I haven't had that instant where I narrowly avoided death, I would've got buried in the dark until everyone who has ever had any memory of me die off and it would be as if I've never existed. So, this accident, in some way, inspired me to write my experiences down, on the sole purpose of letting my memory live after my death that may occur tomorrow or decades down the road.'
