In a world where magi summon heroic spirits called Servants for a brutal battle known as the Holy Grail War, a desperate young man named Dante seeks to defy fate. His six-year-old brother Luca lies dying from a mysterious, incurable ailment - black markings creeping across his pale skin like dark flowers blooming under the surface of his youth.

Determined to save the innocent life that depends on him, as a chosen master, Dante travels to Japan to partake in the war, hoping to claim victory.

By winning the war, he will obtain the Holy Grail. Its granting power was said to fulfill any wish, no matter how grandiose or impossible. To win, Dante must summon a powerful servant, however, in the streets of Fuyuki, Dante's encounter with the King of Heroes will alter the course of events.
