Kind of like how Astro had Dandy, and Shelly had Tisha. But at the same time. . . Maybe he wanted even more than just a '𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥' relationship? However, when Sprout is given the run down about the new toon, he is hopeful he won't have to wish for a best friend because once he met the new toon, he'd have one. And, he was correct. Once the new toon and Sprout met, he felt an instant connection. He was overwhelmed with this new feeling, but loved it immediately. And for a while, everything was great. Wonderful, amazing, even.
