"i don't even know your name," gwyneth said, crossing her arms as she leaned against her car. the rain drizzled slightly, misting her golden hair, but she didn't seem to care.

edward clenched his fists to his side, he shouldn't be here. "you don't need to," he finally spoke, his voice rough, low.

gwyneth scoffed, "right. because it makes so much sense that you glare at me like i kicked your puppy one second and then the next act like I don't exist to you." she tilted her head with a huff, " did I do something to you?"

"You should stay away from me," he said instead, voice tight.

she raised an eyebrow. "And what if I don't?"

His next words came out as a warning, a plea-

"Then I might not be able to stay away from you either."

a small town shrouded in rain and gloominess becomes the backdrop for a human's discovery of a world hidden in plain sight. forks, washington- nestled in the lush greenery of the northwest. but forks was never a town just for whispers and puddled filled streets, it is a place where the supernatural intertwined with the mundane. and some- even walk the thin line between human, and monster.

"So you took a break from school?" I ask looking through the microscope, I knew Lydia said to ignore him. 'How can someone be a jackass, disappear for an entire week, and then return, and be the kindest of people, unless he was on his period.' I thought to myself, and strangely Edward started chuckling, as if he read my thoughts, but that couldn't be possible. "Yeah. I was out of town for a couple of days, due to personal reasons." He says. "Prophase." I told him, writing it down. "Do you mind if I look?" He asks, pointing at the microscope, I pushed it towards him, as he looked as well, I couldn't help, but stare, he was absolutely beautiful. "It's prophase." He says, looking back at me, making me look away, embarrassed I almost got caught. "Like I said." I mutter softly. "So are you enjoying the rain?" He asks, putting in the next slide, I looked back at him curiously. "You're seriously asking about the weather? Of all things?" I ask, I couldn't help but start wandering about what kind of person he is. "Yeah, I... I guess I am." Edward says, a smile on his face, and it made him look more handsome than he already was. "I absolutely love it, any sort of cold weather, it just makes me feel calm, and...." I trailed off, once I noticed Edward staring at me with a certain look in his eyes, but I just couldn't quite place what it was. "What? Is there something on my face?" I asks, touching my face hoping I didn't eat like a pig again, leaving food stains on my face, I hate it when that happens. "Nothing." He says, looking into the microscope once again. Here, the rain washes almost everything away... except the scars carved into your skin. Elisabeth - Lizzy to those close to her, Miss Disaster to everyone else - thought she was escaping a violent ex, a ruined past, and that strange curse that always drags her toward trouble. Mistake. In Forks, danger finds you before you even have time to breathe. She has her sarcastic younger brother, a blind grandmother who sometimes whispers to shadows, and a taciturn sheriff who only believes in facts. But one encounter eclipses all the rest: Dr. Carlisle Cullen. Too impeccable, too ancient in his gestures, too cold behind those golden eyes... and yet, impossibly magnetic. They say the Cullens never age. That they keep a secret no one dares to name. And when strange crimes begin to shake Forks, Lizzy realizes that every step closer to the truth pulls her deeper toward him... and toward the hunger she swears she sees burning in his gaze. Here, it always rains. And sometimes, what runs down your skin is not water.
