The Wendigos were once men, but now they are a global plague-skeletal shadows with hearts of ice and a limitless craving for flesh and forest alike. In their wake, the land falls silent, the trees are stripped of bark, and the earth itself forgets how to breathe.
Anhara, the Moon Dragon, has seen this cycle of desolation repeat for eons. To stop it, she must forge an impossible alliance: a proud Thunderbird warrior who must trade his lightning for vulnerability, and the Dumangan-nature spirits whose true forms are fragile celestial lotuses but whose hands hold the power of growth.
Their weapon is not the spear or the tomahawk, but a "Bitter Harvest." By sowing vast orchards of ancient walnuts, they intend to force the monsters to purge their corruption and face the memories of the humans they used to be.
As the winter frost arrives early, Makwa and Ayasha-two humans caught in the shadow of a corrupt chief-must decide if they can trust a dragon's promise. In a world of mimicking voices and material greed, they will learn that the only way to kill a monster is to remember the man inside.
