Lonely. That's what Madeleine's been ever since the mage left. Sure, he has other people. He has his fans, he has Latte, he has the Divine who so graciously granted him that pair of feathered wings upon his back. But it's just not the same, not anymore. Not without Espresso. So when he finally gets the chance to meet the man he once loved yet again, he won't pass up the chance to protect him. He won't let him go again, even if it means fighting until his very last breath. --- This story is an AU where everyone's "human", just with food names. There are actually quite a few nonhumans/monsters, both turned and born. Madeleine is a turned creature, given wings and feathers by the Divine. There are many other such creatures, including Espresso. If that makes you uncomfortable in any way, you've been warned. You don't have to read this, you know. Also there's gay (of course) and they're both transgender because I said so and I wanted to make Madeleine suffer period cramps. Don't be homophobic. I probably won't be adding smut to this one (though if I make a book 2 there might be), so don't get your hopes up. --- This cover was done by me in watercolor! I'm not bothering to add words to it. Average word count per chapter is 2-3k words. I'm trying my best with grammar and spacing, so I think it's clear what's going on. My first serious fic, yippee!
The Girl Who Made Life Worth Living
Finn has been the man of the house since he was a child. Simply surviving, he doesn't want any more responsibility than he's already burdened with at 18 - until he helps a mysterious abused girl he met near his new workplace. His caring and protective nature quickly brings her into his life but their budding relationship falls apart just as fast, until an incident and the subsequent events make them slowly come back together. Later, when Finn loses the only other thing he cares about in life he's faced with the choice of driving her away or being vulnerable enough to depend on her. Maybe she can finally make him feel taken care of back; the one thing that he's always truly needed. A more mature and healthy rewrite of a book I started writing when I was 14, inspired by the trashy, dramatic, emo love stories I was obsessed with on this platform a decade ago. I was dealing with a lot at the time so I came up with this book idea, where both main characters have dramatized aspects of myself in them, as a way to make myself feel lovable, so writing this now is a nostalgic and creative way of looking back, processing, and letting go of the emotions I was going through as an adolescent. I hope you enjoy!
