Esther used to be a citizen of the Kingdom of Aurea. Now, she's a fugitive with a target on her back, running away from everything she's known. All because she stole a piece of bread. 
Ash Silver is an assassin employed by the King and Queen of Aurea to kill Esther. This is because they are worried that her unlawful behaviour might cause an uprising. Ash has carried out countless missions before but he doesn't know what to think about this. Killing a harmless teenager isn't something he approves of, but he has to carry about his mission. . . Right? 
Ciaran Storm is the leader of the Rebels, a group which is trying to bring down the Kingdom of Aurea's cruel rulers. 
Prince Darius isn't permitted to leave the castle grounds. Due to this, he's fully unaware of everything that's going on in Aurea.
Siona is a spy for the rebels and works as a royal maid to spy on the rulers of Aurea.
