The quiet buzz of the airport hummed around Prachi as she sat in a stiff metal chair, her hands clutching the handle of a bright yellow trolley bag. People shuffled past her, each absorbed in their own hurried lives, but Prachi felt like she was moving through quicksand. The weight of the doctor's words-"malignant tumor"-still pressed heavy on her chest. She closed her eyes, trying to push away the pang of fear. This was supposed to be her escape. Ten days in the pristine Himalayas, away from the suffocating city and her own reality.

It was then that a sharp cry snapped her out of her thoughts. Her eyes flew open to see a little girl, no older than three, toddling toward the rushing traffic just outside the terminal doors. Instinct took over. Prachi bolted to her feet, her sprained ankle screaming in protest, and ran toward the child.

The screech of brakes filled the air as she swooped in and pulled the little girl back, just in time. The child blinked at her with wide, doll-like eyes, too young to understand the danger she had been in.

"Are you okay, sweetheart?" Prachi asked, her voice trembling.

Before she could process the moment, a man rushed toward them. His face was etched with panic, and his sharp features were softened only by the warmth in his eyes as he looked at the child. He hugged the girl tightly, whispering something Prachi couldn't hear, before standing and turning to her.

"Thank-" The word seemed stuck in his throat. His eyes darted to her sprained foot, but instead of gratitude, his expression hardened. Without another word, he grabbed the child and left, his stride brisk, his presence as cold as the air outside.

Prachi stared after him, shocked and furious. But before she could gather her thoughts, her eyes fell on her yellow trolley bag-or at least, what she thought was hers.

A MAHABHARATA RETELLING ~~~ All the other flowers in the garden were brought up to envy the rose. Maybe shun it even. And admire it, too. Unusual ways. Too-red petals, too-sharp thorns, too-sweet fragrance. If only each flower did not have a mind of its own. If only stories were truly what one hand wrote them to be. If only the blood on every thorn was the fault of the rose and not that of the hunter. ~~~ Her breathing had suddenly halted as her eyes had accidentally landed on a piece of paper carelessly tucked under the lampholder on the bedside table. It looked like the work of a royal servant who had accidentally come across it while cleaning the room and then picked it up and tucked it away. She had carefully sat up and reached for it. The hot metal of the lampholder - like the one she had seen Draupadi seamlessly remove from a counter - had almost seared her palm, as she had hurriedly but carefully pushed it aside and retrieved the folded piece of what seemed like pearlescent paper. Touching it had felt like a grave invasion of privacy, but the curiosity that had suddenly roared and raced within her like a great river breaking free off a cliff. She had hurriedly unfolded the paper and had been greeted by a not-so-perfect handwriting and a volley of letters. It was a letter. A letter that looked like someone had ripped their heart out and presented it to someone on a piece of pearlescent paper. ~~~ WARNINGS: Scenes of intimacy and violence, possible hints of self-harm or similar intentions

A freak accident, memories fading away, Pragya believed light was found. Believed her Kiara to be alive. That was years ago. Yet to her, only a day ago. The mind, a vessel beyond anyone's comprehension. It locked away what hurt the most, the memories of a haunting past that kept her awake at night. Now resurfacing in this charade they display for her sake, in this hate they conceal for her sake, in this love they pretend to have for her sake, this is the reality that should have been- if only they listened to the heart, not the mind. It's all for her, this pretence of a family they never were. This part they play, it's not theirs. Names and relations are muddled but to her, everything is where it should be. They smile brightly together, picture-perfect, yet alone cry themselves to sleep. Like Icarus desiring to conquer the sun, they burn it in. Eternally shrieking, but no one can hear. In the devoid empty darkness of the space between them. Playing this game, their sanity is fleeting and they slowly begin to fade- fading in the sun. ---Fading In The Sun--- Canon divergent. ----- Meher sat on the edge of the bed, her back to Arhan. The room was silent except for the low hum of the AC. Her fingers trembled slightly as she took off her bangles. She hadn't cried when the doctor said it. But now, in the privacy of their room, everything felt real. "Meher..." Arhan's voice was quiet, almost hesitant. She didn't reply. He moved closer, sitting beside her, leaving a respectful distance. "I shouldn't have raised my voice earlier. I... I was frustrated, not with you. The surgery failed. I failed. And then... when I saw you in pain-" "You didn't even look at me properly, Arhan," Meher whispered, her voice cracking. "I didn't expect much, but... a little warmth?" Arhan clenched his fists. He had always prided himself on being composed, rational. But Meher's words struck something deeper. He turned to her slowly and took her hand. "I was scared too. That I'd lose you, or that you'd hate me for not being there during ..................... I didn't know how to process it all." Meher finally looked up, tears glistening in her eyes. Arhan leaned forward and gently kissed her forehead. "I'm with you now. Every step. Every pain. No more silence, okay?" Vedha was holding her baby in her arms, her back resting against the inclined hospital bed adjusted for her comfort. The baby was nursing at her breast, tiny gulps filling the quiet room. Slowly, she leaned forward and kissed the baby's forehead. She touched her daughter's tiny hands and feet, still in disbelief that this life had been growing inside her just hours ago-and now, here she was, her newborn nestled in her arms, suckling gently, a moment of pure, painful beauty cradled in her arms. "You are filth... an unwanted filth in my life," Vedha whispered. With that, she jolted awake. She was alone in her hospital bed, the dream fading into the sterile scent of the hospital room. Her mother, Radha, who had been sitting in the chair beside her, panicked at the sudden movement. "Vedha, what happened?" she asked anxiously. Vedha, still dazed, shook her head slowly. She glanced down at her breast-it was leaking milk. Her breasts felt swollen and painful. Her body had begun to produce milk. Even though she had rejected motherhood, her body hadn't. "Amma, look at this. Do something," Vedha said, her voice edged with discomfort. The urgency in her daughter's voice snapped Radha out of her thoughts. She nodded and said, "Wait, I'll ask the doctor," before hurrying out of the room. Inside the doctor's cabin, Radha explained the situation. The doctor listened patiently and then said, "Since you're already a mother of two, I don't need to explain to you the importance of breastfeeding. Try to convince her husband to bring the baby, even if just for a few days. It will ease her pain and be good for the child. If feeding isn't an option, we'll have to start medication to stop the milk production. The choice is yours now." Radha nodded thoughtfully and left the room. She had made up her mind to speak to Arjun-one last time.
