Buck had chosen to not tell his 118 family about his past life in the SEALs, or the fact he is in contract with them until 2028. He never thought he'd be recalled to the Navy, when the bombing happened and he almost lost his leg that seemed to be the moment everything turned upside down. He gets a blood clot tries to sue for his job and during the lawsuit he gets that big white envelope from the DOD with a big banner with the word Classified.

Buck decided to leave on a rainy day. The drops of water landing on his windshield calmed him down, making the choice seem less difficult. He packed up his apartment over the past month, not rushing it, only doing so when he had the free time. But Buck had a lot of free time.
