"Elena Elizabeth Diana!"

My snapped up as my mother attempted to lecture me about playing rough with my brothers.

"Why? Why are you my most trying child? All I ask is that you be a lady. Is that so hard?"

I stayed silent, gazing longingly out the window at the blooming gardens below.

"Are you even listening to me?!?"

"Ummm…" I stuttered. "I thought it was rhetorical question?" My reply came out sounding more like a question.

"Ugghhhh! You're turning my hair gray."

Then a servant came rushing in.

"Your highness," he panted, addressing my mother. "the king requests your presence in the throne room. Something about greeting guests."

"Hell's teeth!" she swore. She have me a pointed look. "This isn't over." Then she swept out of the room in a rush.

I slunk away, grinning to myself. Then I heard voices. Boy voices, to be exact. I smiled, rounding the corner. I met a pair of gorgeous green eyes with my brown ones. This will be interesting.
