The city of Vultus is divided into two sectors-The Condemned and The Exalted. One side lives in lavish luxury and the other fights to survive every day. Every year, The Exalted select contestants from the Condemned Sector, forcing them into brutal, haunting trials for their own entertainment. 

The Condemned don't know much about The Trials but they know one thing: no one ever comes back.

Kaelis Veylan dedicated to his to protect his family, and above all-his sister Lina. When her name is called to participate in The Trials, he steps in her place, despite knowing he wouldn't survive. The moment he steps inside the Inferium, everything changes. He gets stripped of his past, his memories, and even his own identity; Kaelis is brainwashed like all the other 100 contestants.

As the trials begin, alliances are formed, trust is formed and shattered, and the only rule is to try to survive. Kaelis and his allies must find out the truth, find out what they lost, seek the memories the Exalted stripped from them. All while fighting for their lives in The Trials unaware why they were put in this position. The Trials are merely a test; the winners get placed into servitude for high-ranking Exalted Officials. In lowers you work in water reclamation or in one of the fish farms that supply protein to the ship. In the year 2149 Dylan De Rovia is trying to wrap her head around the idea that in two year's she'll be paired. That they call marriage on the Ark. Pairing is good most who are paired do end-up staying together because while genetics play good part in determining a match so does personality. Some people choose to use spend this time having a good time with as many partners as possible. Dylan however, vowed that she would never fall in love with anyone before pairing. The universe had other plans however, when Dylan learns that she'll pair with an Upper named Kyive Sinclar life gets more complicated than ever. Falling in love is hard enough falling in love in space that the story.
