this is a soulmate au

When you are first born, an initial appears on your wrist. On your eighteenth birthday, the second initial appears on your wrist. The initials will be those of your soulmate. The two letters will be the very same color as your soulmate's eyes. Of course, with this comes many possibilities. What if your soulmate has died, what if they're your enemy or they refuse to even acknowledge your sheer existence? Or, what if they're your very best friend?

If you so wish to refuse your soulmate, you can get your initials removed by medical professionals. It's not as easy as "removing a tattoo," as some would think. In order to completely disregard yourself from being tied to your soulmate, you must undergo a special removal procedure. In that procedure, you lose any and all memories of your soulmate. Once those initials are gone, so are your memories of your soulmate. You don't get another one, that's just how it works. Would you do that to rid of your hated enemy, or would you do it for the sake of your soulmate's happiness?
