The pain...the agony- the screams of the other kids I once called friends and played with...all gone and replaced with despair. Only teddy could keep me company and keep me sane. Till one day, a new boy was brought in and he was strange. But he interested the kids, even the scientists. He was placed in my room and he never spoke a word to anyone. He would wake up in the middle of the night and gasp for air like if there never was any. But he was my friend. Things changed and a few years later, the orphanage was attacked. Two people came in and killed the scientists but spared the children. While making an attempt to escape, I was caught by the remaining scientists and taken away. The screams of my friend echoing behind me as I tried to escape... Such a waste as I became strong and have long forgotten those memories. But side effects came with the experiments they played with. Y/N is the name and being psychotic is my game. Don't try to catch me cause I can read you like a book in a grand library. When I was 14, my best friend, Declan, rushed into my life like a storm. He climbed through my window one night, carrying a duffel bag full of baseball equipment, but it wasn't for a game. It was for me. He'd seen the bruises, heard the shouting, and knew what my dad had been doing. Declan, smaller than me even at that age, fought my father to protect me, taking the blows that I couldn't fight off. That night, my dad moved us away, and I never saw Declan again. Now, 13 years later, I'm back in town-older, tougher, and a lot more guarded-but I have no idea where Declan ended up. Life pulled us in different directions, and mine was full of scars, seen and unseen. Then, one night at a red light, a guy starts harassing me through my open window. Before I can react, a motorcycle screeches to a stop beside me. The rider-tattooed, broad-shouldered, and completely lethal-reaches through the guy's window, slams his head into the steering wheel, and rides off like it was just another Thursday. I follow him. He ends up at a place called The Rusted Anchor, a rough bar on the edge of town, hidden behind rusted fences and rows of bikes. The crowd is loud and rough, but I've seen worse. Inside, it smells like whiskey, smoke, and danger. And behind the bar, pouring drinks with practiced ease, is the man I thought I lost all those years ago-Declan. He's no longer the quiet, skinny kid who risked everything to protect me. He's a man now-hardened, scarred, with eyes like storm clouds and a presence that silences a room. He doesn't recognize me at first. But when he does, I see it-that same fire, that same instinct to protect. Only now, it burns even hotter. Declan isn't just back in my life. *Completed* My name is Silver Jones, or at least it is now. I have been hiding in the witness protection program since I was a kid. I knew the rules. Stay quiet, stay invisible. If no one notices me, the less likely he will find me. But everything changes when I get to the small town of Hopesprings, Colorado. The town wasn't on a single map, so I guess my handlers thought it was the perfect place to hide. Everything goes unnoticed there, but that was until I learned the town's hidden secret. It wasn't on the map because it was built for the witness protection. This gave a whole new meaning to hiding in plain sight. I'm not the only one being hunted down. The government decided to round us all up and place us together. It almost seems like they wanted a bright red target on our heads. Now it is easier to be found. I know he's coming for me, but the question remains. Who will he bring with him? What happens when the town where everyone's hiding is found by their worst nightmares? ***** This book is selected as mature because of the violence depicted and the language used. Although it does depict much blood, it isn't overly described. If at any point, the graphics are too much, stop reading and message me about it. This novel does have spelling and grammar mistakes. This story is the first book I have ever uploaded to this site, and for those of you brave enough to read it, I applaud you. It really is horrible, like seriously bad.
