1974- David was the golden boy, high school heart throb, quarterback, and a charming happy go lucky guy. But right out of high school he didn't know what to do or where to go, so he signed up for the United States Military earning himself a one way ticket to Vietnam. The six years of war changed him, the combat, the pow camp he lived in for two years, and now he is home again. The war is over, and he feels angry, aggressive, combative, and un-purposeful. Its driving him insane, PTSD riddles his brain. Two years after the war, he's not getting any better. 

Magnolia Mae, the girl who was nerdy and a bit of a wreck in high school. And it didn't help she was bullied by the towns golden boy and his friends. But eight years, a degree she doesn't even want to use and lots of self reflection and healing she is now volunteering at the Veterans Center in her small town in Montana, and it is full filling all her needs and goals. Being a friend to struggling veterans, making care packages, and resumes with others. Everything is going well until David Black shows up at the center and flips her world upside down.

I think that's why we're still trying so desperately to get back to some sort of normalcy.
