The Secrets We Keep

Everett Matthew Boone is sure about three things.

One: His life is a complete mess.
Two: He is dating Oliver Blackwood. This might seem like a good thing, but to Everett, it presents a huge problem because, well, he isn't gay, and although Oliver is aware of this, he doesn't seem concerned about it.
Three: He hates children with a passion. His baby brother never stops crying, and for some unknown reason, Everett is the only one who can get him to calm down.

Everett knows he should end things with Oliver. He knows he has too, but he can't seem to find the courage. Within his spiraling world, Oliver's presence is the only thing grounding him, and he fears that once he lets go, there will be nothing holding him back from falling off the edge.

Oliver knows, without a doubt, that Everett is the one for him. Everett has a spark within him that most people lack. It is fading and flickering, but it is there, and all Oliver wants is to make sure it never dies.

There are a few very serious problems, though.
Everet isn't gay, or even bisexual. Oliver is still shocked that Everett even agreed to date him, because up until a while ago, his pretty boyfriend was in a steady relationship with a very pretty girl.
There is also the issue of their age difference. Well, it's not an issue to Oliver, and Everet doesn't seem to care, but everybody else likes to point out that seven years is a lot, especially considering the fact that Everet can't even drink legally yet.
You'd think those are the biggest problems they face, but they're not. The biggest problem is the horrendously dark secret Oliver is hiding. He doesn't regret the decision he made all those years ago; in fact, he stands by it, but if Everet ever found out, it would be the end of them. Everet would leave him without hesitation, and worse than that, Everet would hate him, and Oliver would deserve it.
