On a stormy night, Hyunjin never expected his life to change forever.

On his way heading back to campus, drenched from the rain, he hears it-a weak, barely audible cry. At first, he thinks he's imagining things, but then he hears it again.

A sudden crash of thunder illuminates the alleyway, and that's when he sees it-a small box tucked against the cold, wet brick wall. A tiny hand peeks out.

Hyunjin's breath catches in his throat. His heart pounds as he steps closer, shoes splashing through puddles. He pulls the damp blanket back-and freezes.

Inside the box lies a barely moving baby, shivering and pale, its breathing so shallow it's almost nonexistent. Panic surges through Hyunjin's veins as his hands tremble over the frail infant. Then he sees it-a small sticky note, soaked and crumpled but still readable.

"Haneul."

His throat tightens. Someone abandoned this baby. Left him out here to die.

Without hesitation, Hyunjin scoops the fragile baby into his arms, wrapping him tightly in the wet blanket. He holds Haneul against his chest, shielding him from the merciless downpour, and runs.

He doesn't think about what comes next-just keeping the baby alive.
